THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP

What do you think causes the achievement gap?
i think that what causes the achievement gap is our selves, the students.
we are guilty and so is myspace and youtube. altough parents play an important roll on it.

What can students do to close the gap? (3)
A) spend more time on homework
B) think about the future
C) work at full potentials

What can parent do? (3)
A) think of themselves as teachers
B) ask/check children's homework
C) talk to children about the future

What can teachers/schools do? (3)
A) schools should have more programs, not all academics thought
B) teachers should give more homework time
C) teachers should have same expectations for every single student

What did you think of Mr. Hayden?
I think Mr. Hayden is very interesting, specially the way he talks. what I did not like about him is that he "underdoged" us.

Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a Civil Rights Leader. Do you see him as one. Why or why not ?
I don't see him as a Civil Rights Leader cuz he didn't really do anything really outstanding. I didn't know anything about him untill Mr. Carr talked about him. He is an asterisc. ( * )

Tom Hayden feels that leaders r not as important as the hundreds and thousands of people behind them. What did he mean by that ?
I think he means that the followers are more important than the leaders because if it was not for them, the leader will not be as succesful as they are.

I think the poster "STOP HURTING YOUR SELF" means that you should not make your life miserable and start thinking about your future, to succeed.
A kid hurts him/herself when they fail classes, cheat, ditch or get drunk at school, they are hurting themselves because on the future they are going to suffer and have humongous problems. They affect others because we care about each other.
